5 Ways to Celebrate International Women's Day

5 Ways to Celebrate International Women's Day

8th Mar 2024

Every year on March 8th, people around the world come together to honour the achievements of women, recognize their contributions to society, and advocate for gender equality. It’s a day to celebrate progress, reflect on the challenges that women still face, and take action towards a more inclusive and equitable world. queenb have a team of wonderful ladies behind it (and some lovely guys too), where we are all totally equal.

How are you going to celebrate? We are thinking of a nice staff morning tea. Whether you're planning a grand event or simply taking a moment to educate yourself or others, every effort counts. Below are a few ideas to get you thinking:

1) Book Club Discussion: Organise a book club meeting to discuss literature written by women or focusing on women’s experiences. Some examples are ‘The Help’ written by Kathryn Stockett and ‘Little Women’ written by Louisa May Alcott.

2) Film Screenings: If books aren’t your thing, opt to watch films directed by women or that highlight women's issues and achievements. Some great options are ‘Hidden Figures’ or ‘Freedom Writers’.

3) Share on Social Media: Post or share posts raising awareness about women's rights and gender equality issues. Take part in advocacy campaigns or organize rallies to demand gender equality and women's rights. For example, the theme for International Women’s Day in 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’ – collectively, let’s forge a more inclusive world for women. queenb will definitely be posting on social media!

4) Celebratory Dinner: Host a dinner or brunch to honour women in your life whether it be family, friends, or community to recognize and celebrate achievements. Feel free to go further to extend your gratitude by exchanging gifts so everyone can remember this day for years to come! Great gift ideas include heat packs, shower bombs, slippers, aromatherapy gifts sets and robes.

5)Support Women-Owned Businesses: Encourage support for women-owned businesses by promoting shopping or dining there. Just like us at queenb! Which was a business idea by Krystle Barnes to help get luxury linen and hard-to-get commercial bedding into your home!

Let's remember to uplift and amplify the voices of women, advocate for change, and work towards a future where every woman and girl can live freely and without fear of discrimination. Together, we can create a more inclusive and equitable world for all. Happy International Women's Day from the queenb team!
