As the winter chill sets in and cozy nights become the norm, there's something deeply satisfying about filling your home with the aromas of hearty, simmering dishes. Imagine coming in from the cold to a kitchen filled with the scent of spices and savory delights, all prepared with minimal effort and cleanup. This is where the magic of the one-pot cooker and Skillet truly shines. Whether you're someone who doesn't cook at all and is pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to use, or if you're a culinary enthusiast who prefers to keep things simple without cluttering your kitchen with heaps of complicated appliances - this ones for you.  Read on for queenb's favourite Crock-Pot One Pot and Sunbeam Skillet recipes:

 

Vegetable Soup: Combine your favourite winter vegetables like carrots, potatoes, onions, and celery in a pot with vegetable broth. Add herbs and spices like thyme and bay leaves for flavour. Simmer until the vegetables are tender and serve hot.  This can be made in your One Pot or in your Skillet.

Sunbeam Pot Chicken: Begin by searing seasoned chicken breasts until they achieve a golden brown hue. In the same pot, sauté onions, garlic, bell peppers, and mushrooms until they turn tender. Introduce diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and a selection of herbs to the pot. Once the chicken returns to the mixture, allow it to simmer until fully cooked. Just before serving, garnish with fresh parsley for a vibrant finish. Enjoy this succulent Sunbeam Pot Chicken, perfect when paired with your favorite side dishes!

 

Chili: Brown ground beef or turkey in a pot, then add diced tomatoes, kidney beans, black beans, onions, garlic, chili powder, and cumin. Let it simmer for about 30 minutes until the flavours meld together, and serve with toppings like cheese, sour cream, and green onions.

 

Pot Beef Stroganoff: Start by browning thinly sliced beef strips in the pot until they're nicely seared and golden. Remove the beef and set it aside. Return the beef to the pot and sprinkle with flour, stirring to coat the meat evenly. Pour in beef broth and a splash of Worcestershire sauce, then let it simmer until the sauce thickens slightly. Stir in a dollop of sour cream and season with salt and pepper to taste. Just before serving, garnish with fresh chopped parsley for a burst of color and flavor. Lentil Soup: Cook lentils in a pot with vegetable broth, diced tomatoes, carrots, onions, garlic, and spinach. Season with cumin, coriander, and paprika for extra flavour, and let simmer until the lentils are tender.

 

Skillet Classic Spaghetti Bolognese: To make Skillet Classic Spaghetti Bolognese, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions, carrots, and celery, and sauté until softened. Stir in minced garlic and ground beef, cooking until browned. Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and herbs to the skillet, stirring well to combine. Reduce heat to low and let simmer for 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Serve the Bolognese sauce over cooked spaghetti and garnish with Parmesan and parsley. Skillet Creamy Mushroom Risotto: For Skillet Creamy Mushroom Risotto, start by heating olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until fragrant. Stir in Arborio rice and cook for a minute until the grains are coated with oil. Deglaze the skillet with white wine, stirring until absorbed. Gradually add warm broth to the skillet, stirring constantly until the liquid is absorbed and the rice is creamy and tender. In a separate skillet, sauté sliced mushrooms until golden. Once the risotto is cooked, stir in the sautéed mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, and butter. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve hot.
